How does Google use my search history to add value to my life? In other words, why should I not delete my search history?
-
Perhaps Google needs to be a bit more transparent and communicative to its users as to how our search history benefits us.

Answer:
Google uses your search history for Google Now. If you use Google Now, deleting your search history will make it much less effective. On search results, Google will tell you how often you visit a certain site, or when you last visited it from Google, if you've visited it before. Deleting your search history will eliminate that (IMO) useful feature. Search will autocomplete based on your search history. That's very useful for repeated searches, or searches where you modify a previous search as a starting point.
