How to open "rdf" files?

Is there an e-commerce website that is using Dublin Core Metadata Initiative's (DCMI) RDF files to aid SEO?

  • I'm researching the DCMI file specification, but I would like some examples of its use.

  • Answer:

While it is impossible to prove a negative, it is unlikely that DCMI is employed in any notable way by any large ecommerce website for search engine optimization benefits. This chiefly because Dublin Core Metadata Element Set (or even the more extensive full set of Dublic Core metadata terms) isn't particularly well-suited to ecommerce, but rather to the description of web and physical information resources and their creators. For ecommerce, it is far likelier that one would find schema. org, data-vocabulary. org or hProduct employed (possibly augmented with product identifiers from GoodRelations). That's only a partial answer predicated on a necessary rewriting of the question to "is there an e-commerce website that's using DCMI to aid SEO." That's because the question "is there an e-commerce website that's using [whoever]'s RDF files to aid SEO" is unequivocally no, regardless of what value one uses for [whoever]. There is value in using structured data markup for SEO but not RDF files.  RDF is not directly consumed or returned by the search engines; I am unaware of a mechanism by which "RDF files" for an ecommerce site could even be provided to a search engine, or what data said files would encode.
