In which application CAPTCHA applicable?

Which is better in terms of growth, a Web application or a mobile application?

  • Hi, I was just curious, in which platform will be better in terms of growth in the next 5 - 10 years. And why you think so. Firstly, I understand that to choose the best platform, we first have to understand the fundamentals of the problem that we are trying to tackle. For instance, real time data would be better to choose a web application, and entertainment such as games would be better to choose a mobile application. Second, decide which customer or users that we want to target, and from there choose in which way the users will prefer to interact with the application. Third, justify your own skills and decide which sets of skills you have to tackle these problems and the platform you have chosen. If your skills are not able to tackle these problems, try learning new skills or repeat the three moves again. I fairly know what are the steps to make to choose a platform, but I'm searching for answers such as what are the advantages or disadvantages for both of the platforms. How will these both diverge or converge from each other over time? What are future is heading towards to? And why is it moving to that platform you have stated?

  • Answer:

I believe that in 2011 a web application should also be thought of as a mobile application, there's no need to not build for both if you're not basing your application on native features such as acceloromenter, camera et c.

IN all honestly, I think both. I know that's probably not the answer you're looking for, but if you look at, for instance, twitter or facebook, to take two well know sites that are applications, their growth has been both web and application on mobile platforms, as well as application on desktop. I think if you are developing the "property", your best bet is to provide the infrastructure (SDK / API) to allow others to provide the ecosystem specifics (i.e. accessing your offering in whatever way someone else deems "great"), and this will guide you for your own offerings under your own brand (see twitter). Best, Justin.
