How do I set up a multiply account?

How does one set up an MCC account from an existing Google Adwords account for an Apps for Business domain?

  • How does one set up a My Client Center account from an existing Adwords account?  When I go through the process to set up an MCC account, I'm ultimately told by the web service that I "I already have an Adwords account." I suspect the problem is the Apps for Business account being used as those are notoriously problematic in accessing or linking to various Google services. Is there someone in support at Google that will assist with this and not just drop you because it isn't a  "new account"?

  • Answer:

There's no way to achieve exactly what you described. Apps for Business shouldn't have anything to do with it -- two constraints are relevant here: A given email address can only be associated with one AdWords account. An existing AdWords account can't be converted to an MCC account. So you have two options, depending on what's important to you: Simply create your MCC account with a new email address (say, ) and link the existing AdWords account to it. Associate the existing AdWords account with a new email address and then associate the MCC account you create with the existing email address. Option #2 is complicated, so you should only bother with it if you really care about your existing email address being associated with the parent MCC account. Assuming your current AdWords account is associated with , here's the step-by-step to achieve this (I'm pretty sure this is accurate, though you should verify this yourself): Create a new email address -- say, . Add as an administrative user on the existing AdWords account. This will require creating a password for logging into AdWords with the paul.adwords@ login, which should probably be different from the password for the paul@ login. Logged in as , revoke access to the account from . Now create your MCC account using , as though that email address was never associated with any AdWords account. Link your AdWords account with your new MCC account. Phew!

Please note that if you are trying to become a Google Partner, you must not only follow Prabhu's steps (thank you btw), but be aware that you will need to use the GMail address/account associated with your MCC account (including having a Google+ profile with it) to apply to the Google Partners community. This is the first step in becoming a partner. In other words, make sure when you are changing things around, that the address that you use to create your new MCC account is the one you will use for your business, profile (and Google+ Page for the business - which makes no sense btw Google), as well as applying for the partners program. Hope this helps!

You have to use an email that isn't already associated with an Adwords account. You could try to link your Adwords account with another email before you attempt to create the MCC account, but I'm not sure if that's even possible.

I just went through all this. Setup a new account, assign it to your old adwords account, unlink your old Google account with your new account in adwords. Once unlinked, you can make a new mcc account with it. NB, Google chrome will keep you logged into various areas of your google account so I used a different browser to sign up for mcc, otherwise it would make a new adwords account every time.
