Why are geese migrating North for the winter?

Where do the Canadian Geese in Middlesex County, New Jersey hide during the winter?

  • I live in Monroe Township New Jersey and there are several ponds in the area.  During the winter when the weather is not overly cold or it is not snowing out and the ponds are unfrozen there Canada Geese are there in their hundreds.  When the weather gets cold and the ponds freeze they are nowhere to be seen. Since the Geese show up whenever we have a mild winter's day I know they do not migrate south.  So where to they hole up during the cold?

  • Answer:

"Canadian" geese? The ones who go "honk, honk, eh"? As to the Canada geese, they have flown south, as always, for warmer climes.
