What benefits can I get through the SAT? What score do I need to get scholarships and study in the US with minimal costs?

  • I'm an Indian girl, science student of class 12, and want to get into some good college in the US. What should I score in the SAT to get scholarships and study in the US with minimal costs? I need the details, please help :)

  • Answer:

My daughter went and did B.S. in university of Texas,  Dallas.  There are few things to be considered.  Whether your parents will be agreeable to send you at such an young age? Next only the cost. You have to score as high as possible in SAT along with good academics with good showing in co-curricular and extra curricular activities to get into a university of repute. My daughter represented UTD in tennis. You may have to invariably write SAT 2 as top universities require that also. No financial aid or scholarship is guaranteed.  But you will have good chances of getting it. But you need to work out your cost as if you are not getting any aid. You may get in campus jobs at $10 per hour for about 20 hours a week. You may get summer internships at least for 3rd and 4th years. You may have to stay compulsorily for the first year in dorm which is expensive. Indian rupee may depreciate over the next four years. Over the next 4 years fees may increase, though you have a facility to freeze the fees. All in all it will cost you a minimum of Rs 1 crore. You may get a max education loan of 20 lacs from the bank. Then you may have to consider doing MS or MBA. My daughter after 2 years of experience is admitted to COX school of business in Dallas. Plan well with your parents. Best of luck.

Through SAT one gets admission in UG programs for US universities. A good score along with good academics that is once profile plays a major role in one's admission. I suggest you take help of a councellor. Also there are a bunch of options to choose from in US including universities and there wide variety of programs. Also one has to note that cost incurred will be high depending on the state in which your university is. All the best.

It is simple by just scoring good marks in intermediate and simultaneously try to get good marks in "SAT" if you qualify in that exam then you are capable of studying your further education in western countries
