I want to get into Acting, how do I go about this.

I live in Baltimore, MD and seriously want to get into acting. How should I go about doing so?

  Start by going on auditions. There are lots of web sites with lists of nearby auditions, e.g. http://www.broadwayworld.com/noneq/Baltimore-MD#.UztF7fldXL8. There's also a https://www.facebook.com/groups/MarylandTheatreChat/ group. (Keep an eye out: I'll have a casting notice up there soon, though we're down in Greenbelt.) There's also a significant film/television industry in Baltimore, and a huge fraction of that ends up getting cast via Pat Moran: http://www.patmoranandassociates.com/nowcasting.html. (Principals generally come from New York, and if you were serious about wanting to make a living in acting you have to go either there or LA, but you can at least get a taste of it right here in Bawlmer). Getting into acting really is as simple as going on auditions and getting cast. Doing it well requires practice, practice, practice, and there are classes at the local colleges and all kinds of seminars on acting (though I'm afraid I don't have specifics to recommend).
