How does Google treat linked badges from other websites or blogs to the badge 'owner' website?
-
I've seen lots of blogs with badges touting membership in some club, usually sponsored by another website, i.e. "I'm a >Website Name< featured blogger!" These badges are usually linked to the page of the sponsor website. How does Google view these links? Do they have a positive, negative, or neutral impact?
-
Answer:
I believe that they are no different to normal image links. One unfounded / tested theory I am starting to believe is that the ratios between different link types (follow/no follow, image, social, anchor text etc) seem to have some sorts of impact - but the simple rule is to work messy and organically looking as much as possible.
