How do I change my default search engine?

How many people change their browser's default search engine?

  • Are there any available stats on what percentage of people change their browser's search engine, preferably grouped by browser? Given that Google's contract with Mozilla will expire soon, I'm curious to estimate that if Mozilla switches Firefox's default search engine to Bing, how many users will take the trouble to switch it back to Google.

Interesting question! I digged around and honestly, couldn't find a stat graph that plots Search Engine vs Browser used. However, these are two graphs you can simply pull from http://gs.statcounter.com/ This is what the graph looks like for the top 9 Desktop, Mobile, & Tablet browsers From June 2013 to June 2014. And, this is what the graph looks like for the top 5 Desktop, Mobile, & Tablet Search Engines From June 2013 to June 2014. Given the 'shockingly' high number of Google users, I would say that there is an overwhelming majority of users who either stick to Google or switch to it. Although, I haven't been able to get the answer you need, I guess you can estimate that for most users, Google is the search engine of choice and it is very likely they will switch to it. I personally have used Google consistently for the major part, except recently when I switched to Bing as my default SE on all my devices, only for the sake of earning Bing Rewards. However, Google is still my weapon of choice for research related queries.
