What books and courses are available online to prepare myself for the Informatics Olympiad?

  • I know to program in python and am learning c++ and I would like to know a site/books where I will be able to teach myself all the commonly asked algorithms.Also suggest a place for practicing.How much time should I give to preparation for olympiad in a week? Thanks!

I am no expert at Informatics Olympiad, for I did not get very far there, but you can start at http://poj.org/ http://www.usaco.org/ How much time is a pretty weird question. I mean, how much better you get with practice is not purely a function of time but also depends on how much effort you put in and how you put it in. For some people few hours a week might suffice. For some others it will be tens of hours every week. There is not magic number above which you are doing good.
