How Much Can You Make On Firefly Surveys?

How much money does a typical person make doing online surveys?

• I'm assuming this is just someone completing surveys who is in one or more online research panels.  Always very curious how much money they do and could potentially make.

  I doubt any consumer respondent is earning more than £1,000 a year. Some doctors might earn over £5,000 I'd assume a very very heavy survey taker might complete 100 surveys a year for a panel at £1 per survey.  They might also be a member of multiple panels - let's say 8 for a heavy respondent.  So that's going to be an £800 return for the investment of 120 - 160 hours in the course of the year.  Not bad, but hardly a banker bonus. A light survey taker, who is only a member of one panel, would struggle to get above £25 a year.  Many do not even get that. You can earn more if you win a prize draw (we give away £1,000 a month).  Interestingly it's always a challenge convincing people they've won as even though they opt in to join our panel they are suspicious when we tell them they've won £1,000!  We usually have to re-draw our £1,000 once a year as it goes unclaimed despite us sending a flurry of emails and follow ups!  Crazy.. You can earn more if you do online focus groups...these might pay £10-£20 an hour and can be quite fun. You get more invites if you are an interesting demographic and less if you are not.  Housewives are the easiest to reach (and so get less).  Cardiologists on the other hand earn around 100 times more per interview (and a cardiologist who completes enough surveys would reach a level where they would need to declare the income on a tax return).
