If you are a Certified Public Accountant and you recently hired a Virtual Assistant, what was the most important reason for your decision?

  • 1) As a Certified Public Accountant who felt the need to hire a Virtual Assistant, what were the minimum required skill that you needed your VA to have in order to be considered? 2) What none accounting tasks do you have your Virtual Assistant do for you and what accounting related tasks do they do for you on a regular basis? 3) Were you willing to train your virtual assistant on how you handle your day to day work? If you did indeed train your Virtual Assistant how did you do it? 4) Before hiring the Virtual Assistant what day to day tasks took up the most of your time and which ones were the most productive use of your time (your income producing activities)?

I am not a CPA. But I get my bookkeeping tasks done by Integra (http://igsbookkeeping.com). They pretty much handle all my accounting tasks, sending invoices, entering receipts, bills, reconciliation and reports. I did not have to train them, all I had to do was to spend an hour to tell them what I needed and they do it using quickbooks. They had web conferencing abilities so I just showed them what I need on my screen and that is all. I also have to mention to them about what I need on an ongoing basis. Ex: I need to send an invoice to this client for xx amount and they would do it. Doing the weekly and monthly bookkeeping took a good amount of my time which I would rather focus on doing something else.
