How to pull only one branch from remote?

What is more advisable, taking drop for a year or trying for branch change after getting into one of the good colleges (with a branch which has a lower cutoff)?

  • I might get a branch like ceramic engineering in relatively newer IITs or older NITs. However I wish to pursue electrical and electronics engineering. I want to know that is it more advisable to take a drop for a year, prepare again for the entrances or join the college in the hope that I might be able to get a branch change. Taking drop seems to be mentally a very challenging task. Studying the same portion again for a year and the pressure to perform better seems difficult. Things will not be as interesting as they were when I learnt them first time, solving only questions day and night will be boring. However, chances of getting a branch change are also low (this is what I have learnt from my professors at coaching and over the internet). I do not want to end up with a branch that I do not like.

  • Answer:

Speaking from experience i would suggest dropping only when you have no other choice.
