Why is one of my arms so hot?

Why is it that no one finds non-anonymous air travel troubling, yet are up in arms about any other form of travel tracking like GPS?

  • You can't resell tickets or travel under an assumed name. I believe it is the same for long distance rail travel. Yet this sort of tracking is entirely acceptable both from a legal standpoint and a cultural one. There are murmurs still about the no-fly list, but this seems to be an inconvenience problem, a freedom of travel problem, not one about losing a right of anonymity. What's going on here?

  • Answer:

Could be because they perceive the possibility of dying in an airplane but get merely annoyed that some unknown number of people know where their car is or where they're having a martini.
