Where And How Can I Access The Japanese Business Directory?

Is it possible to access a file located in a subdirectory of the directory in an Oracle DIRECTORY?

  • In Oracle external tables access data stored on a file located in a directory, specified in the DDL of the table itself, using a SQL query.

  • Answer:

You COULD, but you SHOULD NOT. The COULD: You can set utl_file_dir system parameter to include the subdirectory, but this is firstly deprecated and also when using wildcards considered a security risk. The SHOULD: Just create a directory object for that subdirectory. If you're using external tables that probably won't happen that often.
