Why does Chrome Web Store allow Ad Blocker extensions but not allow YouTube downloader extensions?

  • Both the extensions will affect Google revenue. So, why allow one and remove the other. Or is it just number games? Currently, ad blockers only reduce the revenue to a far lesser extent as compared to video downloads.

  • Answer:

    Because allowing anyone to download any video from YouTube is violation of copyrights whereas allowing people to block ads they don't want to see is personal choice.   If they block adBlock or adBlock plus people can easily switch to Firefox which also provide those extensions. Allowing people to use adblock on Chrome is better than losing them to other browser, and usually the extension is used by users who will rarely click on any ad on any webpage.
