Can you name one longest hindi serial?

I am an Indian, a common man, a middle class guy. And to be really really honest, my Hindi is not right. I have a Mumbai slang to the language and try as I might, I cannot, for the life of me, get it out of my Hindi vocabulary. Does that make me any less Indian? I wouldnt really think so. Bollywood is not the only film industry in India. We pride ourselves on our cultural heritage and diversity and just to give an example, an Indian, on average can speak, read and write atleast 3 languages, if not more. So your question also indirectly implies that anyone (actors are Indians too, you know) who cannot speak Hindi is not a "worthy" Indian. The job of an actor is to act, have a clear dialouge delivery and especially for the Indian film industry, be a good dancer. The language used is really not of matter. As long as the acting is good, the "character" will be well received. See, finally, the character played by the actor needs to touch the audience and not the actor himself. So, long story short, the industry asks for good actors and not people who speak good Hindi. If it were that way, we would probably have only Hindi teachers, scholars and lecturers as actors :)

First of all Hindi is not our national language but is one of the many official language(s). It is a very popular misconception among people. Check this http://www.thehindu.com/news/national/hindi-not-a-national-language-court/article94695.ece Now coming to your question, yes it is very sad that most of our actors have very poor command over Hindi language, the language of their work. There are only handful such actors- and I'm talking about today's generation actors. Some of them have been mentioned here. I would like to add Vidya Balan and Kangana Ranaut too. The worst part is, this problem exists not only in actors/artists but between common man itself. People have developed this mentality that a person who speaks Hindi fluently or is from Hindi medium school is below their cadre. I'm not bashing the English language but how many times you see a person from China or Korea or anywhere from the world whose mother tongue is not English and is not fluent in it is being looked down.

Hindi isnt our national language and hence even if the actors are not fluent in it, its not a sad thing. However there are many actors who are fluent in Hindi and have a great command over the language. Yes, there are actors who aren't that fluent in hindi but the reason for it is probably since the might no be from a background where hindi is spoken in their homes. India has 22 official languages and hindi is just one of them. If you judge an actor by the kind of language he speaks then i'm afraid your criteria for judgement is wrong. Ranbir Kapoor got several film awards for speaking the language of the deaf-dumb. Rani mujherjee similarly received the award for Black where se played the role of a mute and blind girl. Bhaasha mein kya rakha hai.. Bhaawnaao ko samjho baalak ;)

There are alot of actors who are very much fluent in Hindi. Alot of names has already been mentioned but I would like to add Anu Kapoor to the list.

Amitabh Bachhan for 1 can speak flawlessly. To a lesser extent, SRK n Akshay kumar too. They may not be able to speak "chestha" hindi like Big B does, but they do speak reasonably well.
