Which is the better display for macbook pro: matte or glossy?

Is it worth upgrading to a Retina display MacBook Pro or should I spend my money on an iPad Air instead?

• I use a macbook pro (13" mid-2012 non-retina model) and nexus 7 (2012 model) as my primary computing devices. I'm considering to go for anyone of these options by selling my previous models. 1. Buy a Macbook Pro 13 Retina Display (This would replace my previous macbook). 2. Buy an IPad Air (This would replace my Nexus 7). The thing is I want to know is it worth upgrading to a retina display or should I spend the money on an iPad air instead? Here are some details about my usage and requiremeants. 1. I mostly use these devices for actions like web browsing, content consumption, word processing, making presentations and app development. 2. Occasionally I use photo and video editors. 3. I use my nexus 7 mostly for reading books and nothing else mostly because of its screen size. Now here are my questions: 1. Do you feel that the Retina Macbook Pro considerably improves the user experience considering my usage details mentioned above? 2. Is iPad Air comfortable for browsing the web and reading books? 3. Now finally, what do you think should I spend my money on?

  Considering that you use a tablet mostly for reading books, buying an iPad Air will not be a great investment because of its cost. I would suggest the upgrage to rMBP. Comparing it with the non-retina model, it got fast boot time because of the SSD. Also, since you mwntioned you are into video editing, the gorgeous retina display will definitely take those taks to the next level. But since rMBP cannot be upgraded by adding more memory and adding a higher capacity storage (not for the 2013 models) like non rerina models did, I will suggest you to get one with higher memory qhich will future proof the machine atleast for the coming few years.
