I have made a few video lessons for beginner/intermediate guitarists on the basics of funk guitar playing. In some ways I think playing funk lead guitar is easier than rhythm so here's a lesson on how to make your blues lead sound funky: http://www.secretguitarteacher.com/quora/ssb.php?lp_id=523 Funk music is often made up of several layers so I put together an example tune that you can work with to appreciate the different techniques and use of chords involved: http://www.secretguitarteacher.com/quora/ssb.php?lp_id=547 http://www.secretguitarteacher.com/quora/ssb.php?lp_id=583 http://www.secretguitarteacher.com/quora/ssb.php?lp_id=624 These lessons range from beginner to more advanced level...let me know if you would like to fill in some of the gaps in between. Meanwhile...have a funking good time!

For playing jazz , rock , blues etc. on guitar you first have to learn the basics. To learn the basics you can log on to youtube and search for beginners guitar lessons(you can check out marty schwertz or justin guitar) , they will guide you step by step......   Or you can just simply go to http://justinguitar.com . There they have arranged the lessons accordingly and guitar player of any level can go there and learn something new. Hope this helps :")

There's a ton of stuff you can find online. If you're an intermediate to advanced player and interested in jazz I'd say get Scott Henderson's instructional DVDs. Those are great for learning outside playing and phrasing with lots of great licks and interesting ideas. For funk I'd say Ross Bolton's instructional video. Also if you haven't already get the book Chord Chemistry by Ted Greene. It will be your best friend for life and drastically improve your understanding of chords and harmony.

For blues, I strongly suggest you try Blues Guitar Unleashed by Griff Hamlin. http://bluesguitarunleashed.com/

Gibson Learn and Master Guitar DVD + my best guitar book ever from a special friend titled "A modern Method For Guitar" by William Leavitt. Good luck.
