How can I mount a network drive in Mac OS X in Java?

How can I mount an SMB drive on Mac OS Snow Leopard from the terminal?

  • Answer:

The command "mount_smbfs" is probably what you're looking for. To simply mount a remote share, try: "mount_smbfs //user@server/share mountpoint". For more details on the options available when mounting, check out the manpage.

Actually it would have to be more like this: 1. Create the virtual volume on your Mac: "mkdir /volumes/sharename" 2. "mount_smbfs //user@server/share /volumes/sharename" 3. enter password if prompted All commands are entered from terminal in a non SUDO session.
