What is the godaddy reseller program?

Does anyone here have any tips on the Godaddy reseller API?

  • We offer a sort of personal profile to our customers and want them to now be able to buy a domain name and link the same to their profile. Can we do this through Godaddy's reseller program?

    My tip is: don't use it, GoDaddy's reseller API is really bad. I suggest either Enom, or if you want a REST wrapper on top of Enom then consider my company, DNSimple (which uses Enom under the hood for domain registrations and transfers, but with our own hosted DNS).

This would be possible with GoDaddy's reseller program, but you need to implement it against their API: 1) Look up the availability of the domain name 2) Authorize the customers credit card (you will need a merchant account and gateway for this) 3) Register the domain name 4) Charge the customer's credit card 5) Set up DNS to point to the profile page via URL forwarding. These companies are mostly focused on specifically serving resellers. GoDaddy's wholsale brand is called "Wild West Domains", their API info is here: http://www.wildwestdomains.com/gdshop/reseller/api.asp A number of companies (such as DomainCocoon, a company I founded) can help you with an implementation like this, you could also post a project like this on Odesk or Elance.
