What is the only developed country in North Africa and the Middle East?

How wise will it be to invest in an under-developed country from Africa?

• We have been approached by the government of an under-developed country with a nice business proposal of investing in the country. The country is very small and regarded as one of the top 10 poorest countries in the world. Obviously our team is going through the pros and cons of the investment, but my question to the Quora community is to get a general and unbiased idea from regular readers. P.S. I know the details are not enough to extract proper and detailed response, and I'm not even expecting that. Just expecting casual and informal response about businesses in poor countries.

  If without the government's encouragement, support, protection etc. the opportunity would be very hard to actualize, then it's probably not worth the trouble.
