Who are the best wholesale companies on the internet?

What is best source for monitoring acquisitions and financing on internet startups and mature companies?

  • i am looking for source like mergermarket, factiva, bloomberg etc, allowing to search information on internet companies across various criteria

  • Answer:

I would recommend peHUB as a good resource, they store and report all the SEC filings on private equity (including VC) funding.  I believe searching through their archive requires a subscription.  Also, Crunchbase is a good resource to find startups' funding/acquisitions although it tends to be new(er) companies and mostly internet companies.

FundingFlash is a daily email that details the 20-40 VC, angel and growth equity deals of the prior day including who received investment, how much, investors, description of the biz and sector/industry taxonomy.  I'd estimate that 30% of the deals detailed per day are "under the radar".  Can sign up here to try it for free - http://cbinsights.us1.list-manage.com/subscribe?u=0c60818e26ecdbe423a10ad2f&id=9dc0513989.  More info here - http://www.cbinsights.com/cbi-fundingflash.php

The absolutely best free resource to stay aware of all internet M&A and Financings is twitter. If you create list and just follow PEHUB, NYTDealbook, and Techcrunch I would be surprised if you missed any notable deals. For research Crunchbase offers advanced search functionality that can help you build lists of companies or transactions. Their accuracy is impressive for an opensource platform and they offer an API if you have the ability / desire to build more complicated queries.

The most complete sources of this type of data come from companies like CapitalIQ, VentureSource and 451 Group who sell access for a rather large annual fee ($10k on up depending upon number of user.  As you have identified above, there are other sources but they are not easily searchable against a broad array of criteria. Our firm, Architect Partners, is focused on M&A advisory and we track and regularly publish assessments of M&A transactions which occur within the rapidly converging internet, mobile and digital media sectors.  They are all available on our website under M&A Alert.  This may be helpful but it certainly isn't anything like the deep data sets available from the companies mentioned above. Hope that helps.
