Will a wrong address on a passport be a problem?

  • I am an Indian citizen and have a passport. I got passport when I was in college. For me police verification happened in my home town ( for permanent address) and at college (current address). They sent the passport at college address and the address printed on passport is also college address. Now that I have graduated and work in bangalore, the address in passport is stale, as I don't live there ( in college). But if I apply in bangalore, they will put bangalore address in passport not my hometown address. So will having college address in my passport can do any damage in my visa application ? Also if I go for address change, I will only get bangalore address printed in my passport.

    Passport records your address as you filled in the application form. If you wish to have your home address then apply with that address. But you got to be present there during police verification.
