How can I track third party conversion?

How should I track Google AdWords Conversion when user lands on third-party site, then converts on our site?

  • I'd like to track conversions like this: 1. User clicks on my AdWords ad 2. Ad sends user to URL at third-party site 3. User clicks on link on third-party site that takes them to my site 4. User visits particular page on my site - this triggers conversion Is this possible? This is "cross-domain tracking" but I cannot make any changes to the Google Analytics code at the first site (which is the usual technique for enabling cross-domain tracking). All of the cross-domain tracking documentation I've found discusses tracking vistors across multiple domains, all of which I control.

  • Answer:

As long as you put the conversion pixel on the 'thank you' page that (hopefully) should be on your website; adwords will be able to track the conversion. addendum: don't get confused between analytics code and conversion code. addendum2: I didn't notice your response to my comment. In that case, you need to have a page on your website that further redirects to the 3rd party site (if you are using analytics) If you are using adwords conversion tracking pixel. Just place the pixel on the thank you page, and it would work!
