How to become a web design freelancer?

How can I approach Web Design and Development as a freelancer?

• I want to learn website designing and web technologies. I have some knowledge of html,css and Content management system like joomla. Not much knowledge of JS and JQuery and new advance framework. How should i approach it?

  I don't think you can get web development projects with the languages you know. With the languages that you claim to know, you can stick to the designing part assuming that you know HTML5 and CSS3 quite well. You can approach guys who are looking to outsource the designing of their website to individual freelancers in ODesk or Freelancer(.com). You should still know how to make use of some server side languages such as PHP to make the contact form function even in a very small website. When it comes to CMS like Joomla or Wordpress, you should still know more languages to create the modules/plugins that will suit your client's need.  I don't want to sound rude but I personally advice you to learn the basics of JS, JQUERY, PHP and AJAX before you start working as a freelancer.
