Where should I work as a computer science major?

How do I change my work domain from handling front end mobile apps to core computer science involving big data/machine learning?

• Hi, I have been working on the mobile apps (handling the front end) for the past 3.5 years. However, now I want to switch/work more on the backend or on core Computer Science fields, including BigData, Machine Learning, etc.. I have successfully completed the Machine Learning course on Coursera. I also have a programming blog (Programming Geeks - Coding logic) which I started in college. But considering my previous experience on mobile apps, I'm not getting any good opportunity to work on the core Computer Science fields. In this context, what may be the best way to switch my work domain to core Computer Science fields ?

  I'm in the same boat as you with 3 years of experience as a front end web developer. I'm going through the udacity ML nanodegree with the aim of a career change.Your experience with front end might be awesome but that does not help much for a job as a machine learning engineering. I would advice you to reformat your resume and show your machine learning related projects/skills at the top. If you've not done any, try to work on a couple of small projects related to this field and include them (lots of advice regarding this can be found on web). Most importantly, don't rule out the possibility of working as an entry level ML engineer. The pay might be low initially but you'll love what you're doing at work more than before, which I guess is the whole point. Wish you luck! :)
