What is Flash Advertising?

What factors led to Japanese culture having kawaii/cute advertising aimed at mainstream adults for things such as USB flash drives, and why is this unique to Japan?

The Japanese love anything cute, and it's often used to explain what are thought to be difficult or otherwise uninteresting subjects.I, on the other hand, generally find it insulting and annoying. But I've got to admit, this ad was pretty good. The objective was undoubtedly to register the brand name (Jii) and its uniqueness (charge via USB). And it succeeded in doing both.Plus I liked the line about "take off (the) pants to charge."Think of it as the modern version of a jingle: you hate 'em, but you can't forget 'em.
