Can you remote control an i-phone from a computer?

Is there anything like Salling Clicker for iPhone?

  • Like a few people I used to use a software to connect my phone to my computer via bluetooth. It allowed the phone and computer to talk and exchange information such as... - Sending SMS texts from the computer - Initiate phone calls from the computer - Receive call information: The contact info for the person calling would appear on the computer screen. - Proximity detection: Waking up the computer or locking it. - Media control: Dvd Player, iTunes (control & search), Keynote/Powerpoint etc... By now I'm sure you see why people loved this software. Here's the kicker... it was supported on cheap and more expensive phones. This was back in 2003 and still continues (for the most part) until this day. I'm not sure but doubt any of the new popular phones are supported. *(ie. No direct Android or iPhone support) Sailing Clicker's website & Support phone list:http://www.salling.com/Clicker/mac/devices.php Similar Post http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=943525

I figured I'd share a thought with everyone. A tightly integrated NFC solution "could" prove to be the answer to this question. Based on patents and other information Apple is supposedly looking to integrate NFC technology that will allow their computers to talk to other devices in a variety of ways. This type of solution could be executed by any computer company though the experience and level of integration will likely vary. I may write up an outside article fully exploring & describing this type of solution. Sailing Clicker utilized bluetooth connectivity to leverage a computer's Addressbook, DVD/Media Player controls, scripts and other built in elements to create a great mobile to computer communication experience. SImply put NFC could bring this type of experience to the mainstream user's attention.

Good question. The closest that I have come across is PhoneView (http://www.ecamm.com/mac/phoneview/). It seems to cover most of what you were looking for in terms of basic phone access. For the more advanced/niche stuff like proximity detection you would probably have to look to additional third party software for example, Airlock (http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/air-lock/id384682963?mt=8)
