How to disable right click for a Myspace page?

How do I make it hard for visitors to copy/paste a blog page and/or disable right-click?

  • While I'm quite happy for people to copy/paste in general, I'd like to make it less easy or downright impossible for certain web pages that I plan to create. Is it very complicated to achieve this on Google's Blogger?

  • Answer:

Making it "downright impossible" is downright impossible. Even if you disable the right click (which is a very bad idea, your readers will hate you for this!), people can view source of the web page from browser menu and copy paste whatever they want. They can also disable Javascript (which you can use to disable the right click) and be able to right click again. An alternative approach you can take is to monitor and warn. Put a copyright notice on your page and state that the text on the page is monitored with the help of one of many online plagiarism detection services (like plugscan). Any incidents of copyright infringement will be reported to the ISP and relevant law enforcement agencies. May be actually sign up for one of the plagiarism detection services if you want. :) This may not stop the plagiarism but is likely to detract most of the casual copy pasters. Those intent on copying can anyway always find a way around.
