How to decode qr code from SD card?

Would it be acceptable to have only a name and a QR code on a business card?

  • Context: Going to a meetup in Silicon Valley.  It seems impossible to fit all the ways you can get in touch with a person on a business card, and given a high tech audience... what do you think?

  • Answer:

No, it makes much more sense to have the QR code plus at least the address this points to, just in case someone doesn't have a smartphone and needs the information. I would also add maybe the primary way you like to be contacted such as an email address, twitter account, mobile phone number or whatever. If you are careful with your personal branding you will also have a memorable twitter name which is a good way of introducing yourself. And don't think a blank card with just a QR code will make people want to check you out.  It's very risky.

I wouldn't go with only the QR code just yet. Having a name at least and maybe a twitter account would be ok on such an event. The QR codes are catching up pretty fast, and they're becoming mainstream. Now phones come with pre-installed QR Code scanners. So it is pretty good to have a QR code on the card. We're developing a QR Card service, where you can put together an online profile including your contact info + vCard + social profiles, and you get a QR code to it, what you print on your card. You can also add Google Analytics tracking. Take a look at http://qrcardmaker.com
