Why has my internet gone down?

A couple generations into the future, when the inventors of the free internet, and people who grew up during the rise of the internet are all dead and gone, will it be easier for the public to lose rights over a free internet?

  • Seeing the rise of a technology can really help you understand the value of it, and appreciate the open and free nature of the internet. Generations into the future, no one will know what is was like, and they might not understand the value of an open internet like we have today. Will it be easier for few powerful organizations to gain control over the open internet?

  • Answer:

First of all, the freedom of the Internet is an Internet Ideology, not a principle. The net perfectly could be imagined, built and used in a non-free society, and subsecuently, being biased towards a non-free tradition and set of practices. According to that, it is very probable that the 'free Internet' ideology could be vanishing by now, and won't be necesary the complete generational change to see significant changes in the way most people use and percieve Internet. But it is necesary to keep in mind that the Net was created by liberal-thinking people, and used by a lot of time in that way; that will stay, as practices, long after the end of this century.
