Why has my AOL email account suddenly stopped working and are there any easy fixes?
-
Disaster! I have had AOL mail for about 10 years and I have tons of precious memories and addresses stored in my saved folders. The other day I noticed that I wasn't getting any emails, even spam and when I went to my saved files they were all empty. The only files I could read were recently deleted files. I tried sending my self an email using gmail and it said it was sent, but I didn't get it. There is a help line in AOL to ask for help through feedback, but how will they get back to me? Another update. I signed in with another AOL username on the same PC and had no trouble receiving emails and reading saved mails. What is going on? I can't believe AOL would block one user name and not block all users using the same IP address. Last update; Well I have my email back. After going on twitter, I followed @aolmailhelp and gave them my problem. After a while they got back to me and said it was my spam filter that needed re-setting and that they had did it from their end. Well, I was delighted to get all my old email back but, in among the recent emails were two from aol saying that my account had been signed in from an unknown location and if I didn't verify that it was me, my account would be closed. Obviously I never got to verify it in time and I'm guessing they closed my account, but I don't know why they couldn't wait longer than a day to close it. I check my email faithfully every morning, so they must have closed the account in less than 24 hours. Still, all's well that ends well and I'm glad I didn't lose 10 years of precious memories.

Answer:
I've tried using my phone and I get the same result so it's nothing to do with my computer, it's at aol's end.

I am an aol webmail user and your post makes me worried since this will be a big trouble for me. Fortunately, my account is working fine so far. I am sorry I cannot give you the specific reason for why this is happening, but you can try their online help or pages https://www.facebook.com/pages/AOL-Mail-Help/290698460964266?fref=ts. I believe they can get back to you via any alternate email address. You can create one anytime if you don't have any. By the way, I use the mail from my mail client thunderbird. Did you check whether the problem is with the webmail interface or with your account? Try a different client maybe? Keep the question updated as you resolve your issue or get any response.
