How to extract data from any website?

Is there a way to extract the cell call data of a particular field from a website?

  • I have a list of 1000 urls and from each url I need to get a particular text field into the excel sheet. Is it possible?

  • Answer:

Write a VBA function that takes two arguments. One for the url and one for the text field. This can be done by slightly modifying the code given here: http://www.vbaexpress.com/forum/showthread.php?31831-How-to-parse-HTML-file-from-VBA-code-into-Excel Just change the sub routine to a function and add the two arguments. Then you can call the function from any Excel cell giving it one of the 1000 urls and text fields as input.

Agreed with Nika. that's the best option. If not you can grab stuff from a web page using VBA and targeting HTML id's

You can import information from web by using From Web, in the Data Tab and then organize data the way you want. Maybe you can give a live example to answer better this question.
