The only way to learn a language well is to practice. If you have conversations with native speakers you will be able to learn things better than just studying by yourself. There is a site called ClassDo that has lots of English native speaking teachers, some of which have experience in preparing students for the IELTS. I have interacted with teachers and they are really friendly, one of them called Rozitah was previously an examiner for the IELTS so she knows exactly what preparation is needed. Think of all the major topics that come up such as "movies" "books" "a childhood toy" "a sports star" etc. and research a fascinating and special example. Prepare an answer based on that example. As an examiner I used to get the same answers to every question over and over again. It simply showed that the candidates were all memorizing the same rubbish, from the same books. For example when I asked the question "What is your favourite movie?" 90% of candidates would answer "I like Titanic, it is a very nice movie with Leonardo DiCaprio... etc. etc." - This would limit the candidate to around a level 5. A great answer would be something like this: "You know, one of the best movies I've ever seen is Momento. It's not like any other movie I've seen as its actually played backwards. Every 5 minutes it goes further back in time until you reach the real beginning. It was directed by Christopher Nolan who became more famous later for his Batman Trilogy. Guy Pearce was really amazing in it and totally believable." Make sure to add native English phrasing such as: "Well, you know..." and "Yeah, that's a good question..." "Erm, I'd have to say..." Also add phrasal verbs and idiomatic language such as: "things are looking up" "it blew me away" "it really opened my eyes" "it knocked me for six" etc.

You should be familar with common topics in speaking tests by preparing answers for them before taking tests. Recording your practices is also necessary to correct grammer errors and improve your fluence. It doesn't matter whether you have friends to speak to. I did practice alone, but I got 6.5 in the speaking test.

While it is certainly useful to practice your English whenever and wherever you can, be careful there: an average native speaker has no idea what is included in IELTS and will not be able to help you to do your best at the test! Talk to someone who specialises in the topic, like an IELTS examiner. You can find some of these people here: http://www.ieltsskype.com

If you have no access to any teacher or can't afford to have one this is what you should do... step 1)Choose a topic and try to Type your responses on Ms word ..Ms word should automatically remove some of the grammatical errors... How ever if you are still not sure if something is correct or not you can go on http://grammarly.com ad check... Step 2) try Saying each sentence on Google search...if you are pronouncing it correctly Google search should type exactly what you are saying...if you make errors them just try saying The word on Google search instead of the whole sentence till you get it right ...this should help..there are a Lot of other voice recognition software but Google search is the best in my opinion ..hope this helps ...good luck with it...
