How to install amarok 1.4 on ubuntu?

How do I install Ubuntu 14.01 alongside Windows 8 in another drive using a bootable USB?

  • Currently i have 500GB hard drive which is divided into 4 parts:- C: drive  150GB (window 8 is installed) D: drive  115GB (empty, where i have to install Ubuntu) E: drive   100GB (contains files of personel use) F: drive   100GB (contains files of personel use) when i started booting the system with bootable USB containing Ubuntu 14.01, on selection option of doing something else instead of replacing windows8, it shows a prompt where different file system with different space than what i have mentioned in the above was shown. It is mentioned below:- 4 drives with space 1MB, 367MB, 160GB, & 339GB. Am not able to find out among the above 4 which of them is my D drive where i have to install Ubuntu. Someone please help how to solve this issue.

I won't post the procedure here but I have faced the same issue and got the solution here............ http://www.everydaylinuxuser.com/2013/09/install-ubuntu-linux-alongside-windows.html Do not refer to any other sites just follow the steps. It is always better to use powerISO tool for creating bootable USB. Happy Dual-Booting......

I did this on a laptop with Win7 & Ubuntu14.04LTS. It's quite simple & requires a screwdriver and some patience. For a Desktop (assuming Win8 is already installed): // Unplug the cable for the E & F drives before anything else. They are *not* needed during the installation & should not be apart of the system for this process! You can plug it back in later, after you have configured the system & are ready to go live.// 1) Unplug & remove the Win8 HDD. Place it aside. 2) Move the empty HDD to primary (you may need to reset the master/slave pins). 3) Install Ubuntu. ...  --- Decision Time --- Select the HDD (Win8, or Ubuntu) to be the C drive. Set the master/slave pin as the master accordingly. Then set the other drive's master/slave pin to slave. Plug then back into the computer.  --- Select Time --- Default boot will be to the OS set to default in the BIOS. Otherwise, change the Boot List & boot to the alternate HDD. Test your configuration. If all OK, reconnect the cable for E & F & enjoy!  --- ------------- --- Warning: It is absolutely best to install Ubuntu on a system with Win8 & other drives nowhere to be found! You want Win8 to not know about Ubuntu & Ubuntu not to know about Win8 during the installation process. Otherwise, conflicts & etc. may occur. --- Examle --- Dell L702X laptop with 2 drive bays. 1) Install a new SSD in Bay one (Bay two empty)... Load & set up Ubuntu 14.04LTS. ... 2) Remove the Ubuntu SSD & set it aside. 3) Install a second new SSD in Bay one (Bay two empty)... Load & set up Win7 4) Install the Ubuntu SSD in Bay two. 5) Screw everything in, then snap on the Disk bay lid and screw it shut. DONE!!! Primary Boot is Win7 (Bay one). ... If Ubuntu is wanted, change Boot order (on the fly) to Bay two & boot! Warning: Ubuntu can see the Win7 SSD, but Win7 can't see the Ubuntu SSD & needs a special App (available on the internet) to view files on the Ubuntu SSD. PS. I absolutely prefer a two disk solution for a dual boot. That ensures that I have a clean install with no conflicts, or glitches. I hope that this helps.
