Why are persuasive skills so important for a leader?

How important is it for a leader/politician to have oratory skills?

  • Answer:

Communication skills, not necessarily oratory. What good is a great vision if you cannot communicate it to others and create an enthusiastic team to bring it to reality?

It becomes very important to be a good orator. No matter how much good work you do, it becomes useless if you are not able to present it in front of the people.Plus a good orator skills shows the level of confidence a leader has.

When a common man becomes a leader? When a mere  follower grows into becoming a leader? Who leads a team? and who are the people who are mere followers? If you have the guts, energy and caliber you try and go to the top floor on your house and start shouting from there - " Come on friends, relatives, sisters and brothers - time has come NOW, to forget others and concentrate on our development"  and wait and observe -  after 10 minutes - repeat the same - but you should have one mike with megaphone... 1st you will see the small children running and assembling down below and then people start coming one by one - to see - thinking about who is this fool who started shouting from roof top. Once you see a small crowd of people - then ( never read from text - even if you do,do not show that - keep a bold letters and  large font one page text - in a distance and try to read one line and grasp it and then start repeating that line with required modulation.  And see the result. The oratory skills are important and also audacity is more important. You should be brave enough to talk directly and straight on the difficult subject / issues related to people and should be able to give them innovative solutions -whether you implement or not. But speak about solutions -not mere issues. If you observe both Kejeriwal and Modi - Kejeriwal speaks about unknown solutions or talks about internal revolution not like that Soviet revolution -but peaceful one -where as Modi is an expert in different modulations - he suddenly goes into "as if he is speaking some secrets" then he comes back to direct talking to you and then he speaks as if he is declaring -the changes of modulation gives more impact than the real text. If you start reading from text or speaking same text or phrase again and again or if you lack the dramatics in speech -then its gets no  value. What they lack in vision, they can make it up in oration. Leaders usually cook rice of their speeches & end up conveying nothing. Gandhi had no good oratory skills but still he was the most appealing leader to masses. His speeches were monotonous n simple but full of content.

Leaders don't have oratory skills, oratory skills makes one a leader.
