How do I install a custom Wordpress theme?

I am a beginner so bare with me. I have a GoDaddy hosting account with Wordpress installed on it. I have downloaded a theme. How do I upload and install the theme so when you go to my domain http://www.XYZ.com, my Wordpress theme/website appears?

Do you have the theme in a .zip? If so, you can upload the theme via the Wordpress admin panel. Click on Appearance (probably left on the screen) Click on Install Theme (the big tab) Click on Upload (smaller menu) Else you can use a FTP client, like FileZilla to upload the directory with the theme files to the /wp-content/themes/ directory so you end up with /wp-content/theme/name-of-theme/. You can then activate the theme by going to the Appearance area.
