How to allow user to use my app?

Would Apple allow me to sell digital newspapers and magazines through a non-newsstand app using a virtual currency system?

  • Our app allow the user to purchase digital newspaper and magazines through a newsstand-like market within the app. Apple rejected our first version based on article 11.7 : Weekly magazine are set as consumable. However, based on product functionality, it would be more appropriate to use the Non-Consumable In App Purchase type The problem is that non-consumable products would have to be created daily on iTunes Connect and they would never be approved on time for "delivery" (e.g. the following morning). Consumable allows us to add new editions based on the same IAP on a daily basis. Would the implementation of a Virtual Currency system avoid that problem? 1. Buy VC through IAP 2. Buy items in-app with VC.

    If you can figure out how Apple can make big piles of money, they may go for it. That would be BIG PILES OF MONEY in the case of Apple.

I would suggest you take that directly with Apple. Ask the app review team to talk to a more senior manager in the organization.

A relatively easy way to do this would be to charge an iAP Subscription for ongoing downloads. Magazines like Popular Science which I used to subscribe to digitally on my iPad use this service, in which an in-app purchase gets you their new issues for an allotted period of time. (6 months, 12 months, etc) I would recommend going for that method, since paying per issue of such a service is problematic (and likely expensive for the end user) and a virtual currency system in the app that is separate from Apple's ecosystem is a breach of your ToS agreement.
