How to add multiple polygons to a (Google) map?

How do you add a Google map icon for your business in Google Places?

  • We have an owner-verified Google Places business listing.  The listing is 100% complete, but how do you get an icon added to Google maps? It's these type of icons: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2627/4154888036_752217d18b.jpg

  • Answer:

These icons are algo generated. There are two classes. The first are tourist type locations such as hotels, restuarants and ATMs. Regardless of popularity or prominence those types of location will get the icon by default. The other class is based on the prominence of your listing. Essentially every location that was determined to be a Favorite Place by Google was given an icon. Only claimed listings that had a certain level of visibility and popularity were chosen. Google periodically (ie something like once per year) adds new icons based on the (secret) formula.

Hi., Those icon are auto generated. If you monitor closely, Each icon is based on the category of business that defines it. If your point of interest is of category Hotel, Cafe etc. Then you get an icon of Fork & Knife on your listing & so on for other categories. So there is no way possible for an end user to add an icon to Google Map. But enough said, Google has comes up with great idea, Check out the below link. now we can customize our favorite location with colorful stickers from our mobile app.http://www.theverge.com/2016/3/18/11265890/google-maps-stickers-mobile-android-update
