Are American novels or magazines popular or widely distributed in non-English speaking countries?

    Well since I live in a country where most of the population can neither speak not write even the national language let alone English,(cuz of the multitude of regional languages), I think I'm eligible to give this answer. And the answer is, surprisingly, YES!!! English American novels are very popular and so easily and cheaply available even the Americans have no idea! All the best sellers can be bought in mint condition for just a dollar or two! Jeffry archer,john grisham, paulo coelho, marian keyes,sidney sheldon, Sophie kinsella, stephanie Meyer, j.k rowling, Tolkien, classics, u name it! I've seen nd found em all in Karachi,Pakistan.

When I was stationed in Germany from 1984 to 1987, the town of Frankfurt had a book and magazine store in which I saw lots of American titles, perhaps partially due to the large Air Force Base nearby at the time and the large Army installation there -so I have to agree with Sadia - if they were so widely available then, I assume it's so now.
