How to append text to a JTextArea?

Is there a way to append tweets to a text file using Automator or AppleScript?

• I am looking for a simple solution to archive tweets by periodically querying my Twitter RSS feed and appending new tweets to a plaint text file along with a date stamp. If possible, I would like to use Automator and/or AppleScript and if needed, tools like BBEdit, LaunchBar and TextSoap.
