The format is the least important part of a resume.  The most important part is that you use the keywords and phrases used in the position description.  I like: name and contact info 3-5 bulletted points of what you can do that they need to have done followed by reverse chronological proof that you can do these things Education at the bottom 2 pages total A resume is NOT your whole life on 2 pages.  It IS an advertisement designed to get you the interview at that particular company.  It MUST be tailored for each job you apply for.  There are no generic jobs.

Here's a simple template: A good cv should have the following critical aspects: 1. Name, location, and some basic biodata; 2. Contact Number: cell/email/others; 3. Background education, especially notable academic attainments and extracurricular activity involvement that demonstrates leadership, initiative, collaboration (working with others as a team), and creativity (with fluency of ideas and imagination): Example: "I am a graduate of .... in ....., or I have completed my early education at.... and now I am pursuing .... ; The prime reason that I have chosen this is .... ; I am an active member or coordinator of ..... in school/college/university from .... to ...., and from these I have had learnt and experienced about ..... which made me ..... (e.g. "change-ready", "future-savvy")... "; 4. Strengths (plus + points), in terms of skills, competencies, special abilities, and assets, if any, like "photographic memory", "ability to read at warp speeds", etc.; 5. Weaknesses (negative - points), with a brief on how you are overcoming them: Example: "The only thing that I would like to change in me is that .... so I have undertaken  .... to overcome these ... "; 6. Short-term goals, and long-term goals in life, with a quick snapshot of your career aspirations, especially how you are keeping yourself abreast of what's going on around you, as you pursue your trajectory to personal and/or professional success; 7. Field of leisure interests, and hobbies, which should be unique and fascinating, and in some way should  tie in with your goals in life, by saying "They are primarily driven by my argent desire to .... "; 8. You may want to add in a life role model (past or present), from whom you are inspired to emulate; 9. If you are applying for a specific job/position, give a brief outline about how you can contribute purposefully, meaningfully, and productively to the employer,  upon being hired; [Here, you need to do some real research and/or serious homework]; 10. You may want to throw in, as a catchy parting shot, a powerful and elegant quote that reflects your life philosophy, e.g. This is mine: "Everything in life is possible; it's just a question of strategy and discipline." [Make sure you truly believe in it, and you are living it!] Godspeed!

There is this one website http://httt://downloadfreeresumetemplates.com which provides you clean and elegant one pager resume templates in Word for free downloads. I like this for it's simplicity without any advertisements. You can even ask them to format your resumes for just $5 if you are not proficient with Microsoft Word.
