How do you boot from a USB drive from LINUX?

What do I use to boot from multiple ISOs from a single usb flash drive? I wanna dump Windows, Linux, and maybe OSX and other OS ISOs in there and possibly be given a menu from where I can pick the ISO I want to boot and install it's OS.

  • Answer:

http://www.syslinux.org/ can be used together with its menu module and memdisk module to create a menu with options to create a virtual cd/dvd drive for an image. http://www.syslinux.org/wiki/index.php/MEMDISK#ISO_images But syslinux also supports many other types of boot, so if the aforementioned OS supports reading off of USB storage, you could extract the contents of the ISO and use the appropriate loader from syslinux or a module, you can find more info on the wiki and using google or stackoverflow.

On OS X: Obtain the ISO's for each OS. Partition the drive into the number of ISOs you wish to restore (as per format for each one - for OS X - Mac OS Extended (Journaled)). Using Disk Utility, restore ISOs to the respective partitions.
