Where To Buy Wholesale Jewelry?

I am looking to start my own jewelry store and sell a combination of homemade jewelry and other brands. I want to know who I could contact to setup a wholesale partnership and buy jewelry from?

  • Update - So far this is helpful but where do small mom and pop jewelery stores get their actual gold and diamonds. I don't think that we buy our gold from China but I could be wrong.

    You can check out online wholesale websites like http://www.aliexpress.com which provide small quantities of all sorts of items. For better prices (and quantities of course), http://www.alibaba.com is your source. The companies are mostly based in china and would save you the trip to Asia. Also, the site is in English and sellers only communicate via (passable) English so communication with them shouldn't pose too much of an issue. Good luck with your endeavor!

You're best bet in sourcing jewelry, high end or costume are tradeshows. Simple google search and you'll be able to narrow down to the ones with the most exhibitors. For costume, you'll eventually end up in China for the Canton Fair. Until you have serious volume and have an eye for what works, a trip to Asia is hard to justify.

And then you can search further about the pinpointed websites that you like to see if they are reputable or not. Usually the good ones will have the most good reviews that you can refer to.
