Where can I find a computer programming internship?

Where can I find a creative job/internship that will satisfy my appetite for physics and programming?

  • I am a physics undergrad at , though i started getting hang of physics after taking courses like materials, lasers fiberoptics, plasmas, instead of quantum mechanics, matter which fascinated me, i cant hate physics. And then I turned into a programming lover, and now where can I find a good job that is creative enough.

  • Answer:

Get into game programming. I'd like to see physics engines that do weird things with the properties of plasma and stuff.

's suggestion focuses more on the programming part, and is an awesome suggestion. Physics engines were the best part of game programming to me, and game dev, in my opinion, is one of the most creative fields of programming, since it requires knowledge of so many creative arts (graphic design, storytelling, etc.). If you want to focus more on the physics, I suggest looking to the places making the craziest new developments. Being a researcher at CERN, MIT, etc. would give you a lot of creative challenges. Another route is space technology, which will be all about physics and programming (and I suspect many people working in that field have a good knowledge of both).

Check out opportunities in scientific computing (also known as computational science). Or rather, more specifically, you may wanna look at computational physics or computational optics. In this field, you get to combine your interests in physics and software development. I said software development, instead of computer programming, because you actually want to go through the entire software development process at least once per project so that you software is functional, and hopefully maintainable and used by fellow scientists and students. A related field would be computational engineering, where is more mathematical. However, IITians like you shouldn't have too much problems with the math.

Depending on your background, and where you live try my company http://www.nanotronicsimaging.com.

Sounds like you know exactly what you want to do.  Find a professor who is doing it.  Then email / call/ write/ walk to their office or find their grad students and try to work with them on a project.
