How to build a green screen?

Why not build an app that lets me point the phone camera at the TV and start augmenting my phone screen with where I can buy whats being shown on the TV?

  • Pandora-esque technology should be do-able with TV Shows and Movies. Tying up with the costume/set designers at producers and networks will be a little bit of a pain. Inventory management, if required, will be a bleeding nightmare. But in theory, it can all be done. A sizable percentage of the population would appreciate it. Producers/Networks would get an extra source of revenue and would possibly become your no-cost-to-you publishers as well. Expand the same platform to Print Ads and that's very scalable as well. Seems like a win-win-win, in theory at least. Right?

    Yeah thats a good idea. Ive seen some cookery shows with QR codes which help you to link sites with the recipes.

Based on some quick research I just did, I do believe there are quite a few applications for using your cell phone as a "second screen". But a lot of them seem to be focused on the idea of a social television viewing experience. While thats great, especially while watching live content, I would like an application that could tell me where to buy clothes, accessories, furniture, etc that is being shown on the tele. There would be a ton of ground work and relationships that will need to be built prior to launch. It seems worthwhile on paper though. Someone with either the technology or the network in place would be in a good position to get some traction.
