Can I take courses outside of my current major?

Stanford University: For someone pursuing a Math major, what courses should they take outside the math department? Can you give me an example for someone who hates humanities? Any math-oriented classes to fulfill the General Education Requirements?

  I strongly recommend philosophy classes. Math can teach you "what," and philosophy can sometimes broaden your scope so you ask "why." These usually fulfill humanities requirements. I don't know how much you enjoy physical activity or working out, but phys. ed. classes are a good investment, too. Sometimes it's hard to find time to get active, and it's a good way to do so. After all, brain matter tends to develop better in individuals with better cardiovascular health. The logic classes offered at different universities also help us to better understand the mechanics of mathematical proof-writing. There's a lot of people there that think they hate math, but really love it. They just hate computation.
