Why do Americans spend more on Mother's Day gifts than Father's Day gifts?
-
Also, should there be such a noticeable gap in spending? http://blogs.wsj.com/economics/2013/06/15/number-of-the-week-americans-spend-41-more-on-mom-than-dad/
-
Answer:
Most likely because Mother's Day is more traditional, and therefore people have stronger attachments to it, while Father's Day is a sort of lip service/'get equal' Hallmark day. But you'll still want to buy your dad something and will feel guilty if you don't, although you came from your mother's womb and that's a "real day".
