Does the Audi Care CPO warranty from 2007 cover timing belt replacement at 110000 miles?
-
I purchased a 2006 Audi A4 2.0T Q SDN in December 2007. At the time, I purchased Audi Care CPO, which included a timing belt replacement at 75000 miles. Subsequently, Audi extended the timing belt replacement to 110000 miles, and sent a letter to Audi Care CPO policyholders that timing belt replacement would be covered at 110000 miles as well. I am at 109000 miles. I'm trying to figure out exactly what is covered at the 110000 mile timing belt replacement -- parts and labor on the timing belt only? What about the serpentine belt, water pump, rollers, etc. normally included as part of the $1500 timing belt replacement kit? Are they covered for labor but not parts, or parts and labor, or pro-rated labor and parts on top of the included timing belt service, or would I need to do separate service for those parts entirely? I called Audi USA and was told (after a couple days) that I'd need to call a local dealership. I've called Audi Stevens Creek service department (who I've had good experiences with in the past), and they initially seemed a bit confused about the Audi Care CPO warranty (which was subsequently changed to exclude timing belts on new purchases, since the $690 warranty ended up including effectively $2500 in service at 55 65 75 and 110k miles...). I'd prefer to resolve this in a way which reinforces the value of the Audi brand and customer experience, since I love my Audi and would recommend Audis (and especially CPO Audis and Stevens Creek Audi in particular) to my friends and others.

Answer:
The response I got from a local Audi dealer is: Good news, Audi of America confirmed that it will cover a timing belt replacement for you at 110k miles. It does not however cover the typical components usually replaced along with a timing belt such as rollers, water pump, tensioner and serpentine belt. If you wish to have these components replaced, the additional charges would be: $514.70 for parts $262.50 for labor WATER PUMP 123.98 TENSIONER 156.38 ROLLER 62.70 ROLLER 92.51 RIBBEDBELT 55.13 COOLANT 24.00 This seems a bit bogus because the market parts cost is $250 and the total cost to have the entire job done at an indy shop is $1200. I'll have to check what was included at the 75000 mile service initially (in 2007).
